Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan are facing criticism on social media after remaining publicly silent on the ongoing student protests in New Delhi, while several other actors have spoken in support of the demonstrators.
The criticism comes as protests continue over alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), demands for education reforms, and calls for the resignation of India’s Education Minister. The three actors have not publicly commented on the demonstrations at the time of publication.

According to Indian media reports, critics argue that the country’s most influential film stars have also avoided taking public positions on several other high-profile national issues in recent years, including the farmers’ protests, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and the #MeToo movement.
The discussion has fueled a broader debate about the role of celebrities in commenting on political and social issues, with opinions divided over whether public figures have a responsibility to speak out.
Other Bollywood Figures Voice Support
In contrast, several Bollywood personalities, including Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj, and Diljit Dosanjh, have publicly expressed support for student protesters or called for dialogue and restraint during the demonstrations.
Their statements have added momentum to the public conversation surrounding the protests and the response of authorities.
Student Protests Continue in New Delhi
The demonstrations in New Delhi are being organized by student groups and civil society organizations over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and broader education-related demands.
Media reports said activist Sonam Wangchuk has continued his hunger strike, while police used tear gas and batons to disperse protesters attempting to march toward Parliament. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also joined the demonstrations and was briefly detained, according to reports.
