According to the provisional election results, BMG-backed candidates secured 45,106 votes compared with 5,006 votes received by the Businessmen Alliance (BMA), according to the figures provided by the group. This gives BMG a reported lead of 40,100 votes and accounts for about 90 percent of the combined votes received by the two panels.
In the Corporate Category, BMG candidates collectively received 22,887 votes against BMA’s 2,421, while in the Associate Category, BMG secured 22,219 votes compared with BMA’s 2,585.
The elections were held on September 26 for 30 Executive Committee seats, with 15 seats allocated to each category. Business Recorder reported that 3,582 voters participated, including 1,799 in the Corporate Category and 1,783 in the Associate Category.

BMG Chairman Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairman Anjum Nisar, Jawed Bilwani, Mian Abrar Ahmed, Tariq Yousuf, KCCI President Rehan Hanif, Senior Vice President Muhammad Raza and Vice President Arif Lakhani thanked the business community for participating in the election and supporting BMG candidates.
Motiwala described the result as a mandate carrying greater responsibility for the group and said BMG would continue working for Karachi’s business community and the city’s economic development.
He said the group would devote particular attention to Karachi during the coming months, while reaffirming its commitment to issues affecting traders and industrialists.
BMG leaders also thanked supporters and members of the business community who backed the group’s candidates during the election.
The election of KCCI office-bearers and the chamber’s Annual General Meeting are scheduled for September 30.
