ISLAMABAD, Monday, September 21, 2026: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid met former federal minister for Overseas Pakistanis Sajid Hussain Turi and PPP Labour Wing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Shah Zulqarnain at the BISP headquarters, with discussions focusing on social protection for workers and low-income families.
The meeting covered matters of mutual interest, organisational activities, challenges faced by the working class and measures aimed at strengthening social protection for vulnerable communities.
Senator Rubina Khalid said BISP was playing an important role in providing a social safety net to deserving and low-income families across Pakistan.
She said efforts were underway to make financial assistance more accessible to eligible women by improving transparency, facilitating beneficiaries and expanding the use of modern technology in the programme’s delivery system.
The participants also discussed ways to make social protection initiatives more effective for workers and people from low-income households.
They agreed to maintain coordination and cooperation on measures aimed at improving public welfare and extending support to economically vulnerable sections of society.
Sajid Hussain Turi and Shah Zulqarnain appreciated BISP’s initiatives and acknowledged the programme’s efforts to facilitate deserving families.
The meeting concluded with Senator Rubina Khalid thanking the visiting leaders and reiterating the programme’s commitment to strengthening support for vulnerable households.
