MANSEHRA, July 19: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid on Sunday inaugurated a Mobile Registration Van in Mansehra to extend BISP registration services to eligible families living in remote and underserved areas.
During her visit to the BISP office, she also reviewed the distribution of free Benazir Mobile SIMs and the activation process for the programme’s new Digital Wallet System, which will transfer financial assistance directly into beneficiaries’ digital accounts.
Member of the Provincial Assembly Meher Sultana Advocate and other women representatives accompanied the BISP chairperson at the inauguration.
Senator Khalid said the Mobile Registration Van would help bring essential BISP services closer to families who face difficulty reaching permanent programme offices. The initiative is expected to improve access to registration facilities and support the timely inclusion of eligible households in the social protection network.
Payments to be transferred through digital wallets
The BISP chairperson later met women beneficiaries, heard their concerns and directed officials to address complaints on a priority basis.
She briefed participants about the Digital Wallet System, free Benazir Mobile SIMs, wallet activation and the revised payment mechanism.
Under the new system, BISP payments will be transferred directly to the digital accounts of eligible women. The funds will remain available in their wallets, allowing beneficiaries to withdraw money from authorised retailers when needed.
BISP said the system is intended to give beneficiaries greater control over their payments and reduce problems linked to unauthorised deductions and payment delays.
Beneficiaries advised to collect SIMs from BISP offices
Senator Khalid advised women to obtain their free Benazir Mobile SIMs only from official BISP offices.
Beneficiaries must bring their original Computerised National Identity Card and personal mobile phone so the SIM can be activated and linked to the Digital Wallet at the time of registration.
She warned beneficiaries not to hand their mobile phones to agents or retailers while collecting payments and urged them to protect their SIM cards and account information.
Women were also advised to immediately report any deduction, irregularity or complaint to the nearest BISP office or through the programme’s grievance redressal system.
The chairperson said prompt reporting would allow BISP officials to investigate complaints and take action against those involved in unauthorised deductions or other misconduct.
