Islamabad, April 7, 2026: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, held a meeting with Dr. Humaera Ambreen, founding president of the Kurram Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to explore collaboration on women’s economic empowerment and skills development initiatives.
The discussion focused on expanding employment opportunities and equipping women in Kurram with market-relevant skills through potential coordination between BISP’s Benazir Hunar Programme and the women’s chamber.
Focus on skills and employment
Both sides reviewed proposals aimed at providing modern vocational training, enhancing household-level income generation, and supporting women-led enterprises. The collaboration seeks to improve access to skills that align with current market demands, particularly in underserved and remote areas.

Senator Rubina Khalid said BISP’s mandate extends beyond financial assistance to include long-term economic empowerment through skills development and livelihood support.
