KARACHI: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan’s Social Policy Section, organized a provincial-level training and awareness session for BISP field staff in Karachi to facilitate the implementation of its new Digital Payment System.
Addressing the participants, Additional Secretary BISP Dr. Asmat Nawaz emphasized the importance of staff preparedness and direct communication with women beneficiaries for the successful implementation of the new system.
He said that although various media platforms play an important role in creating awareness, direct person-to-person communication remains the most effective way to guide beneficiaries about the new payment procedures.
BISP field staff actively participated in the session, raised relevant questions and developed a better understanding of the digital payment procedures, as well as effective ways to communicate the system to women beneficiaries.
Under the 1LINK interoperability system, women beneficiaries can withdraw their payments from any authorized retailer of any partner bank anywhere in Pakistan, at any time, seven days a week, after receiving the payment confirmation SMS.

Dr. Asmat Nawaz appreciated UNICEF Pakistan’s valuable collaboration and continued support in strengthening the capacity of BISP field teams.
The session was attended by Director General Operations and Monitoring Adnan Ghuman, Director General Sindh Sanaullah Rind, Director Payment Faisal Aslam, Director Media Qurat ul Ain Fatima, Director Central Zone Waqar-un-Nisa, Deputy Director Training Dr. Qurat ul Ain, along with other senior officials, consultants and BISP field staff from the Sindh Region.
Dr. Asmat Nawaz also reiterated BISP’s zero-tolerance policy towards unauthorized deductions and urged beneficiaries to report complaints through the toll-free helpline 080026477 or at their nearest BISP Tehsil Office.
