ISLAMABAD, March 31: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, held a meeting with senior leadership of VEON and Jazz to explore collaboration on digital inclusion and financial literacy initiatives for programme beneficiaries.
The discussion focused on improving payment systems, expanding digital and financial awareness, and creating skill development opportunities for low-income women enrolled in BISP, one of Pakistan’s largest social protection programmes.
Focus on payments, skills and awareness
According to an official statement, the meeting was attended by VEON Group CEO Kan Terzioglu, Jazz CEO Amir Ibrahim, and Jazz Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Syed Zaheer Mehdi. Both sides reviewed potential areas of cooperation, including the use of modern digital tools and social media platforms for public awareness.

They also discussed the role of artificial intelligence in delivering educational content, particularly through audio and video materials in regional languages to improve accessibility for beneficiaries.
Senator Rubina Khalid said institutional coordination is key to improving outcomes, adding that transparent and dignified disbursement of financial assistance to deserving women remains a core priority of BISP. She also highlighted the need to expand employment opportunities through skills training and improved digital literacy.
Industry support for collaboration
VEON CEO Kan Terzioglu acknowledged BISP’s ongoing reforms and expressed interest in strengthening collaboration. He proposed joint workshops aimed at enhancing digital and financial literacy among beneficiaries.
The engagement reflects broader efforts to integrate technology-driven solutions into social welfare programmes to improve service delivery and outreach.
