Khyber: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is one of Pakistan’s leading social welfare initiatives, dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable and deserving families by providing financial assistance. The program is named after Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and continues to uphold her vision of social support and empowerment.

Today, BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid visited the local BISP offices in Bara, Jamrud and Landi Kotal Tehsils of District Khyber, where she met with beneficiary women, listened to their concerns, and assessed the performance of the field staff.

Rubina Khalid stated: “The purpose of today’s visits is to directly observe the operational procedures of BISP and to listen to the grievances of our beneficiary sisters. We want to ensure that their issues are addressed promptly, which is why field visits will continue. Our aim is to visit all BISP offices across Pakistan to enhance service delivery for deserving women.”

Addressing the BISP staff, the Chairperson emphasized: “Allah Almighty has entrusted us with a great responsibility, and we must serve the underprivileged with honesty and dedication. If we fail in our duties, we will not only be answerable to the public but also to Allah. The importance of fulfilling people’s rights is clear to all, and we must make every effort to ensure that beneficiaries do not face any difficulties.”

The Government of Pakistan has increased the quarterly financial assistance under BISP from PKR 10,500 to PKR 13,500 to provide greater relief to struggling families.

Additionally, the Chairperson announced the upcoming launch of the “Benazir Hunarmand Programme”, aimed at equipping individuals with skills that will enable them to become self-reliant. Under this initiative, beneficiaries will receive training in various fields, empowering them to support their families and contribute positively to the national economy.

Rubina Khalid reviewed the operational arrangements of BISP Tehsil Offices in District Khyber and found them satisfactory, while also acknowledging that there is always room for improvement. She reaffirmed BISP’s commitment to enhancing its services for the benefit of the people.

“We must work together to support those brothers and sisters who have fallen below the poverty line due to various circumstances. BISP has always served the underprivileged of Pakistan, and this mission will continue in the future as well.”
