Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital, Dr. Amir Israr Ahmed, implemented the plan as per the directives of the Provincial Health Minister. During a joint press briefing at the Abbottabad Press Club, Dr. Amir Israr, accompanied by Dr. Ahsan Naveed, outlined the emergency preparedness plan. He stated that three surgical teams have been formed to ensure timely medical aid in emergency situations. Additionally, a separate team has been designated for emergency cases, and measures have been taken to enhance the operation theater’s efficiency.

Dr. Amir Israr highlighted that a recent meeting held at the hospital led to significant decisions regarding emergency readiness. The Trauma Center currently has 100 blood bags in stock, with provisions to set up additional blood camps if necessary. The blood bank can store up to 500 bags, and further arrangements will be made to ensure blood availability during emergencies.

Furthermore, he emphasized that adequate water and fuel supplies have been secured for emergency situations. The MS assured that the hospital is capable of handling up to 100 patients simultaneously, with volunteer support to address staff shortages. Specialized doctors, nurses, and paramedics have been assigned their respective duties to cope with potential emergencies.

An emergency cell will be established at the MS office to coordinate all operations. Dr. Amir Israr added that patient data would be recorded both online and in written form for efficient management and accessibility. A mock drill will also be conducted at the hospital next week to assess emergency preparedness.

Dr. Amir Israr appealed to the public to cooperate with the hospital staff and adhere to the hospital’s code of conduct during emergencies. He assured that providing quality medical facilities to patients remains the hospital’s top priority.
