ISLAMABAD — aik by BankIslami Pakistan Limited has enabled fully digital payment facilities across all passenger touchpoints at Islamabad International Airport, allowing travelers to complete transactions without cash.

Under the initiative, merchants operating within the airport have been onboarded to the digital platform, and QR code systems have been installed at retail outlets, service counters, and other key locations. Officials said the deployment enables secure and Shariah-compliant digital payments throughout the airport environment.

The implementation aligns with regulatory frameworks issued by the State Bank of Pakistan and is being presented as a working model for large-scale adoption of cashless systems in public infrastructure.

An event marking the initiative was held at the airport, attended by representatives of aik by BankIslami, Islamabad International Airport authorities, and the State Bank of Pakistan.

Ashfaque Ahmed, Chief Officer at aik, said the project aims to strengthen digital infrastructure and improve transaction efficiency at a major national gateway. He added that expanding cashless systems supports transparency, operational efficiency, and broader financial inclusion.

By digitizing payment systems at one of Pakistan’s busiest airports, BankIslami said it is contributing to efforts to modernize financial services and expand digital participation across the country.
