ISLAMABAD: Bank Alfalah customers faced prolonged disruption to banking services after a technical problem prevented routine transactions from being processed for much of the day.
Customers visiting the bank’s F-8 branch in Islamabad reported making repeated trips but were unable to complete several banking activities because the system remained unavailable.
The disruption affected branch-based services, including cash deposits, withdrawals, fund transfers and other account-related transactions.
Customers at the branch were informed that the problem was linked to a technical issue affecting the bank’s core banking system. Some were told that the disruption may have involved the Temenos T24 platform, although the precise nature of the fault was not officially confirmed.
The extended outage caused inconvenience for customers with urgent and time-sensitive financial needs. Several visitors had to leave without completing their transactions and return later in the hope that services would be restored.
The absence of a clear restoration timeline added to customers’ frustration, as normal transaction processing remained unavailable throughout much of the day.
At the time of filing, Bank Alfalah had not issued a public statement explaining the cause of the disruption, confirming whether services had been restored or identifying the system affected.
The incident highlighted the impact that core banking system failures can have on customers who rely on branch services to complete essential financial transactions.
