DHAKA: Bangladeshi model and actress Ridhika Ridhi was found dead at a residence in Dhaka’s Bashundhara area, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police said Ridhi was found hanging from a ceiling fan at around 6am on Saturday. Her body was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. Authorities initially suspected suicide but said the circumstances were being investigated.
According to police, Ridhi had reportedly been in a relationship with a man and had an argument with him during a video call shortly before her death. Her family subsequently filed a case alleging abetment of suicide.
Police arrested Hasibur Rahman, identified in the case as Ridhi’s boyfriend, and presented him before a court. Authorities said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actress’s death is continuing.
Ridhi was known for both modelling and television acting and had appeared in several dramas, including Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy, Bohurupi, Double Honeymoon and Shundori.
Police have not announced a final determination regarding the circumstances of her death, and the allegations against the arrested man remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings
