Bangladesh has announced extended school holidays during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to reports, the interim government, led by Mohammad Yunus, has declared that public primary schools will remain closed throughout Ramadan. The Dhaka Tribune noted that the government has revised several long-standing holiday schedules, eliminating some and adjusting others.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has released the 2025 holiday calendar for public primary schools, which includes 76 days off, excluding weekly holidays.
As per the schedule, Ramadan holidays will begin on March 2, encompassing Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Jumu’ah-tul-Wida, and Bangladesh’s Independence Day. Schools will remain closed for a total of 28 days, with classes resuming on April 8 after Eid.
