QUETTA: Balochistan has formally launched telemedicine health units across the province, allowing patients in remote areas to receive medical consultations without travelling to major cities.

Under the new digital healthcare system, patients visiting rural health centres can connect directly with a central telemedicine desk established in Quetta. Doctors and medical specialists at the desk conduct online consultations and provide medical advice and prescribed medicines based on the reported cases.

The initiative is aimed at improving access to healthcare for people living in remote and rural areas, where travelling to Quetta or other major cities for basic medical consultation can be difficult.

Patients who have used the new service have expressed satisfaction with the facility and welcomed the government’s move to expand access to medical care through digital technology.

Balochistan CM Reviews Telemedicine Service

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti made a surprise contact with the telemedicine units to assess the quality and performance of the newly launched service.

During the interaction, the chief minister spoke with doctors and medical specialists working at the central desk and reviewed the telemedicine process and cases being received from remote areas.

Bugti expressed satisfaction with the performance and commitment of the doctors and staff deployed at the telemedicine desk.

He said the initiative would help fulfil another commitment made to the people of Balochistan by reducing the need for residents of remote areas to make long and difficult journeys to Quetta or other major cities for basic medical consultation.

The launch marks a significant step toward expanding digital healthcare access in Balochistan, particularly for communities living far from major medical facilities.
