Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Sunday said the provincial government would not surrender to militancy, confirming that 145 militants were killed during recent security operations carried out across Balochistan.
Addressing a press conference, Bugti said 17 security personnel were martyred in clashes with militants, while the bodies of 145 killed attackers were in government custody. He added that 31 civilians were also killed and several others injured during the attacks, underlining the human cost of the recent violence and the scale of the security response.
According to the chief minister, intelligence reports had indicated imminent threats, prompting security forces to launch operations a day before the planned attacks. He said the actions continued for around 40 hours and prevented multiple assaults, including attempts to target areas near Quetta.

Bugti said that separate operations in Shaban and Panjgur resulted in the killing of 40 militants a day earlier, which he said helped stop attacks from the north-east of Quetta. He added that another planned assault in Panjgur was also foiled, and that security forces remain on high alert as operations against fleeing militants continue.
He said no villages were evacuated during the operations. Bugti also stated that intelligence assessments suggested the presence of foreign nationals among the militants, including individuals from Afghanistan, though independent confirmation was not available.
The chief minister said that militants sought to impose their ideology through violence but stressed that the provincial government would continue security operations. He added that, according to official records, around 1,500 militants have been killed in various operations across Balochistan over the past year.
Bugti said authorities remained confident that militant groups would not be able to seize territory and expressed optimism that security conditions in the province would improve.
