Mardan, April 1, 2026 — Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has secured research funding worth Rs54.4 million under the Higher Education Commission Pakistan National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU) 2026, marking the highest number of approved projects among universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to university officials, five research grants were approved through a competitive national process, reflecting the institution’s research capacity and academic performance.
The awarded grants include Rs18.2 million for Dr. Suleman, Rs13.5 million for Dr. Khizar Haya, Rs8.1 million for Dr. Hussain Ali, Rs7.7 million for Dr. Syed Tanveer Shah, and Rs6.9 million for Dr. Maqsood Hayat.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmed said the achievement highlights the university’s growing role in research and innovation. He noted that securing multiple NRPU grants demonstrates the quality and dedication of the faculty.
He added that the approved projects are expected to contribute to academic advancement as well as broader national development, including social and economic progress.
University officials congratulated the faculty members and expressed confidence that the research outcomes would have both academic and practical impact.
