Field Marshal Asim Munir, US Defence Firm POWERUS Discuss Technology Cooperation

RAWALPINDI, September 16: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), met a delegation from US-based defence technology company Powerus at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, with discussions focusing on defence technology, procurement, production and capacity building.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Powerus delegation was led by Robert Bret Velicovich.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest as well as evolving trends in defence technology and potential areas of cooperation.

The talks covered opportunities for engagement in defence procurement and production, alongside capacity building, the military’s media wing said.

Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the importance of technological innovation and advanced solutions in strengthening national security and resilience.

Both sides also expressed interest in further developing engagement in areas of mutual interest, according to ISPR.

Powerus is a US-based defence and critical-infrastructure technology company focused on autonomous systems and related solutions for high-risk environments.

The company operates across autonomous air and maritime systems and says its manufacturing and integration model is built around US-based production and strategic partnerships.

The meeting comes as emerging technologies, autonomous systems and rapidly evolving defence capabilities increasingly shape military modernisation and security planning globally.

ISPR did not announce any specific procurement agreement or contract following Wednesday’s meeting.
