Rain has washed out all four quarter-finals in the men’s cricket event at the Asian Games, completing the semi-final lineup without a ball being bowled in the affected matches.
The third quarter-final between Nepal and Sri Lanka and the fourth between Bangladesh and Malaysia were scheduled to be played in Nagano, but persistent rain prevented both matches from starting.
With the matches abandoned, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh advanced to the semi-finals on the basis of their higher rankings. Pakistan and India had already secured their semi-final places after their respective quarter-finals against Hong Kong and Afghanistan were also washed out by rain.
Pakistan to Face Bangladesh
The first men’s cricket semi-final will see Pakistan take on Bangladesh on October 1 in Nagano. The match is scheduled to begin at 5am Pakistan Standard Time.
The second semi-final will feature India against Sri Lanka at the same venue, with the match scheduled to start at 10am Pakistan time.
The rain-affected quarter-finals have therefore produced a semi-final lineup of Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka, with both matches set to be played on October 1.
