The two Asia Cup trophies won by India’s men’s and women’s teams remain with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), after both teams declined to receive the silverware from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi during their respective presentation ceremonies.
The latest development came after BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said the trophies would eventually reach the BCCI office in Mumbai, but he did not provide a timeline for their return. Recent reports place both trophies at the ACC headquarters in Dubai.
India Yet to Receive Both Trophies
India’s men’s team declined to collect the 2025 Men’s Asia Cup trophy from Naqvi following its title victory. A similar situation occurred after India won the Women’s Asia Cup in Dubai on September 13, 2026, when the women’s team did not attend the trophy presentation involving the ACC president.
The women’s team defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final to claim a record-extending eighth Women’s Asia Cup title.
BCCI Gives Assurance but No Timeline
Speaking after the BCCI’s annual general meeting, Saikia said the two trophies would eventually be brought to the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. However, he declined to specify when that would happen.
The BCCI’s position means the return of the trophies remains unresolved, with no publicly announced date for their handover.
Saikia has also previously said the decision not to receive the trophies from Naqvi was a BCCI position and that the matter did not prevent India from participating in international cricket competitions.
For now, the men’s and women’s Asia Cup trophies remain with the ACC, while the BCCI says it expects them to eventually arrive at its Mumbai office.
