An argument between a police officer and a cafeteria waiter over serving chutney with a samosa briefly disrupted the atmosphere at the Islamabad District Courts, prompting lawyers to raise concerns about food pricing at the facility.
The dispute reportedly began after a police officer requested chutney with a samosa. The waiter declined, saying the chutney was only included with a higher-priced meal, leading to a heated exchange between the two.
Disagreement centered on cafeteria pricing
According to sources, the waiter told the officer that a samosa plate cost Rs120, while a serving that included chutney was priced at Rs150.
The disagreement escalated into a verbal argument, drawing the attention of other people present at the court premises.
Lawyers demand action over cafeteria rates
Following the incident, some lawyers called for the cafeteria to be closed, alleging that the management was charging arbitrary prices.
They argued that police personnel, lawyers and members of the public regularly use the cafeteria while visiting the courts and urged the authorities to review the pricing policy.
No injuries or arrests were reported, and no official statement had been issued by the relevant authorities at the time of publication.
