Apple’s first foldable iPhone is reportedly moving closer to launch, with early testers giving positive feedback about its design, portability and hinge durability.

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the device can reportedly fit comfortably in a pocket when folded, while the hinge has performed well during initial testing. The phone is expected to feature a larger internal display with software changes designed specifically for the expanded screen.

Apple has reportedly incorporated some iPad-inspired design elements to improve how apps and the operating system work on the larger display. However, the crease that appears along the foldable screen remains a key challenge that could influence the user experience.

If the reports prove accurate, Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone market would put it in direct competition with Samsung and other established manufacturers in the segment.
