Millions of iPhone users were left unable to access key features on Tuesday after several major Apple services went offline, interrupting music and video streaming across the company’s ecosystem. The outage began around 3pm ET and affected both everyday consumers and app developers.
Streaming platforms among Apple services hit by downtime
According to Apple’s system status page, Apple services such as Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple TV Channels were experiencing interruptions. Apple Music serves tens of millions of listeners worldwide, including more than 20 million subscribers in the US, while Apple TV is used by over 39 million Americans.
Despite user complaints on Downdetector, Apple’s dashboard continued to show the App Store as fully operational.
Developer-focused Apple services also impacted
The outage extended beyond consumer platforms, hitting critical services used by developers. Users on X reported problems accessing App Store Connect — the central portal for managing apps — as well as TestFlight, which allows developers to distribute beta versions of their applications.
Apple confirmed that “some users” were experiencing intermittent issues. App Store Connect supports millions of developers working across more than 2.35 billion active Apple devices, while TestFlight can host up to 10,000 external testers per app. For many developers, the instability in these Apple services caused significant delays.
Earlier disruption to Game Center resolved
Game Center, another of the many services, briefly went down earlier in the day before being restored within about half an hour. Despite the quick fix, frustration continued to grow online as the broader outage persisted.
Users express frustration as Apple services remain unstable
Social media users voiced irritation, particularly over reports that App Store Connect appeared dysfunctional even as Apple’s dashboard showed all systems running normally. Others noted that Apple Music — one of the most frequently used Apple services — is essential to their daily routines and should not experience extended downtime.
Apple has not yet provided details on what caused the disruptions or when all affected Apple services will return to normal.
