ISLAMABAD: The APNA Panel has been elected unopposed in the annual elections of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Photojournalists Association, with veteran photojournalist Sajjad Haider securing the presidency for the 22nd time.
According to Election Commission Chairman Nasir Mir and member Aamir Lodhi, all office-bearers and governing body members of the panel were elected without contest after the rival Faheem Malik Group withdrew its nomination papers in favour of the APNA Panel.
The newly elected office-bearers include Jahangir Chaudhry as Senior Vice President, M Javed and Mudassar Raja as Vice Presidents, Sohail Shahzad as General Secretary, Muhammad Asim as Finance Secretary, Faisal Khan as Joint Secretary, and Syed Mehdi as Information Secretary.
The governing body members elected unopposed are Habib Sheikh, Raja Khalid, Raja Zafar, Abid Zia, Tahir Kazmi, Raja Asim and Umar Farooq.
Sajjad Haider, who has now been elected president for the 22nd time, said efforts for the welfare of the photojournalist community would continue.
The Election Commission said the withdrawal of nomination papers by the opposing group paved the way for the entire APNA Panel to be elected unopposed.
The annual election result marks another term for the panel in the representative body of photojournalists working across Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
