ISLAMABAD, November 5, 2026: Housing loans disbursed under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme have exceeded Rs104 billion, benefiting 17,697 families, as the government reports a sharp increase in affordable housing finance since June 2026.

Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad said in a statement on social media platform X that loan disbursements had increased by 404 percent over the past six months, reflecting growing participation in the government-backed housing finance initiative.

According to the figures shared by the adviser, banks had approved 90,405 housing loan applications worth Rs533 billion by the end of October 2026.

The programme received a total of 220,715 applications during the period, with approximately 41 percent securing approval.

Schehzad said the value of housing loans disbursed increased from Rs21 billion in June to Rs104 billion by the end of October, representing a substantial expansion in financing for prospective homeowners.

The total value of approved loans also rose from Rs144 billion to Rs533 billion during the same period, an increase of 269 percent.

The figures indicate that while banks have sanctioned financing worth Rs533 billion, actual disbursements have reached Rs104 billion, with 17,697 families receiving funds.

Schehzad described the progress as an important step towards improving access to affordable homeownership, particularly for families seeking financing to purchase or construct their own homes.

He said the expansion of housing credit was also expected to support construction activity, strengthen financial inclusion and contribute to wider economic growth.

The adviser credited the State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Banks Association, participating commercial banks and the Ministry of Housing and Works for their role in implementing the programme.

He said coordination among these institutions had helped translate the government’s housing finance objectives into measurable results under the leadership of the finance minister.

The Apna Ghar Programme forms part of the government’s efforts to expand access to formal housing finance and enable more households to secure residential loans through participating banks.
