A significant meeting was held at the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Head Office, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Muhammad Bilal Khan, Chairman of the All Pakistan Marble Industries Association (APMIA). The meeting focused on detailed discussions about collaboration to provide modern training to labor in the mining and processing sectors.
Representing APMIA, the meeting was attended by Senior Vice Chairman Mian Irfan Zafar, former Chairman Muhammad Shakeel Munir, Asghar Khan Utman Khel, Sheikh Muhammad Rizwan, Ilyas Muhammad, Zonal Vice Chairman Mardan Nihad Ali, Zonal Vice Chairman Jehangira Amjad Ali Afridi, Zonal Vice Chairman Malakand Akmal Khan, Senior Member Mian Farrukh Munir, Muhammad Farhan Khan, and Mukarram Shah. From NAVTTC, the participants included Executive Director Muhammad Amir Jan, DG Planning Shafiq Hussain Dogar, National Coordinator Shoaib Shehzad, Labor Economist Dr. Lubna Shehnaz, Deputy Director Ahmed Kamal, and other representatives.
During the meeting, it was decided that NAVTTC would designate 10 zones for APMIA in the mining and processing sectors to facilitate the transformation of nominated factories or industries in these zones into training institutes. Furthermore, based on the proposal by APMIA Chairman, it was agreed to appoint two focal persons from the North and South Zones.
On this occasion, Muhammad Bilal Khan (Chairman APMIA) and Muhammad Amir Jan (Executive Director NAVTTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework for collaboration between APMIA and NAVTTC, aiming to promote skill development courses in the dimension stone industry, provide modern training to labor on mining, processing, and value addition, and create employment opportunities for the youth.
With government support, this initiative seeks to modernize Pakistan’s dimension stone industry along contemporary lines and strengthen the national economy. NAVTTC Executive Director Muhammad Amir Jan expressed the commitment of the government to fully support skill development aligned with the needs of the dimension stone industry.
