MARDAN: The national anti-polio campaign in Mardan district will continue from Monday until February 5, with health authorities urging parents to ensure vaccination of all eligible children.
According to the District Health Office, Dr. Mohammad Shoaib Khan, the District Health Officer, has appealed to parents to make sure that children between six months and five years of age receive two drops of the polio vaccine to protect them from lifelong physical disabilities.

In a press statement, Dr. Shoaib Khan said special teams of the Health Department have been deployed to conduct door-to-door vaccination during the campaign. In addition, teams have also been stationed at designated polio centres and transit points to ensure that no child is missed.
He said polio has been eradicated from almost all countries of the world, but the disease unfortunately still exists in Pakistan and Afghanistan, making public cooperation essential for its elimination. He urged parents and community members to fully cooperate with vaccination teams and avoid any hesitation or resistance.
Dr. Shoaib Khan stressed that polio eradication is key to ensuring a healthy life for children and a brighter future for the country. He called on citizens to fulfil their responsibility by protecting their children from the disease and supporting the ongoing campaign.
