Mardan (Fazal Haq) — A four-day anti-polio campaign will begin across Mardan Division on October 13. Authorities aim to vaccinate every child under five. Commissioner Nisar Ahmad directed all departments to ensure full coverage and zero refusals.
While addressing the Divisional Task Force for Polio Eradication at the Commissioner’s Office, Nisar Ahmad stressed the importance of factual micro-planning and its complete execution. He urged officials to coordinate closely and eliminate missed children and refusal cases.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Deputy Commissioner Swabi Nasrullah Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mardan Eid Nawaz Sherani, Secretary Fazal Wahid, and representatives from the health, police, and education departments, along with WHO.
According to the briefing, the anti-polio campaign will vaccinate 408,381 children in Mardan and 272,430 in Swabi. To meet this goal, teams have been mobilized. Mardan will deploy 1,882 mobile teams and 162 fixed teams. Meanwhile, Swabi will field 1,151 mobile and 72 fixed teams.
In addition, Commissioner Nisar Ahmad instructed officials to provide foolproof security for vaccination teams. He warned that any negligence or delay would result in strict action. Therefore, every department must fulfill its responsibility without compromise.
Moreover, the campaign supports Pakistan’s national immunization goals and contributes to global efforts to eradicate polio. It also aligns with sustainable health development and disease prevention strategies.
Teams will prioritize high-risk zones and ensure complete coverage. The anti-polio campaign reflects Pakistan’s commitment to protecting children and strengthening healthcare infrastructure.
As global attention intensifies around vaccination coverage and public health resilience, this initiative reinforces Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate polio permanently.
