MARDAN: A meeting regarding the prevention of drug use and keeping it free from smuggling in Mardan Division was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Mardan Division Javed Marwat in his office On Monday. Commander Anti-Narcotics Force Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Brigadier Mazhar Hussain, Regional Police Officer Mardan Najeeb ur Rahman, ADC Planning and Development Mardan Syed Fahad Iftikhar, ADCF&P Swabi Shahzeb Khan and other relevant officials attended the meeting. ANF officials while giving a detailed briefing on drug trafficking and other issues in the province said that ANF has thwarted drug smuggling attempts by conducting several successful operations with the cooperation of police and law enforcement agencies. Similarly, the role of ANF was highlighted in the awareness campaign regarding the negative effects and harms of drug use. Commissioner Mardan Division Javed Marwat emphasized the need for mutual cooperation of ANF, police and law enforcement agencies to prevent poppy cultivation and drug smuggling. He said that due to the efforts of the administration and law enforcement agencies, Pakistan has been free from opium cultivation for a long time and wherever such an effort is made, the agencies immediately take action. He said that in Mardan and Swabi, awareness sessions have been organized in universities and other educational institutions regarding the destructive effects of drugs, especially ice, under the supervision of the administration and the police. RPO Najeeb ur Rahman informed the meeting about the ongoing campaign and successes of the police against drugs in the region.
