Another person has died of rabies in Punjab, with a 70-year-old patient passing away while undergoing treatment at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital.
According to doctors, Anwar, a resident of Jaranwala, was bitten by a dog around two months ago.
He initially sought treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital in Nankana Sahib before being transferred to Mayo Hospital in Lahore on October 17.
The patient was admitted to the hospital’s isolation ward after developing symptoms associated with rabies. However, he died after spending two days under treatment.
Doctors said the patient had already developed symptoms of rabies when he was admitted.
Three deaths from rabies following dog bites have now been reported in Punjab during the current month, according to the report.
