KARACHI, August 5: A judicial magistrate in Karachi has accepted the final charge sheet submitted by police in the case against alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky, after investigators revised the original murder charge based on forensic evidence.
The case, registered at Baghdadi Police Station, was initially filed as a murder investigation after the body of an unidentified man was found on a footpath. However, police have now replaced the murder charge with causing death (Qatl-bis-Sabab) following the findings of a chemical examination.
Forensic report prompted change in charges
According to police, investigators recovered a small container bearing Anmol alias Pinky’s name from the deceased’s pocket when the body was discovered. An FIR was registered about a month later.
Police told the court that a chemical examination report from the University of Karachi concluded the man died due to drug intoxication rather than injuries consistent with murder. Authorities also said the deceased has not yet been identified.
Based on the forensic findings, investigators removed the murder charge from the case and submitted a revised charge sheet, which the court accepted.
Case to proceed under revised legal provisions
Police said the case will now proceed under the legal provisions relating to Qatl-bis-Sabab, reflecting the revised findings of the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue efforts to establish the identity of the deceased and complete any remaining legal formalities.
