An Indian woman has sparked an online debate after offering to work in the UK without a salary. Swetha Kothandan, who holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leicester, shared her journey on LinkedIn, mentioning her arrival in the UK in 2021.
However, after graduating in 2022, the student stated that she tirelessly searched for a job in the UK through various visa options but has yet to secure employment. Driven by her strong desire to stay in the country, she has now offered to work for free for a month.
Not only that, but she also mentioned that if her employer is dissatisfied with her work, they can terminate her employment without notice or compensation.
The woman even stated that she is willing to work overtime and without weekly holidays just to remain in the UK. She explained, “Job hunting makes me feel as if my degree or skills hold no value. I have applied for more than 300 jobs and have not received any meaningful feedback.”
