An important meeting was held at the CDA Headquarters, which was chaired by Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and DG Civil Defence, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by CDA Board Members, Chief Officer, MCI, DG Environment, DG Building and Housing Control, DG Works, Deputy DG Enforcement, Director DMA, Director Solid Waste Management, and other senior officers of CDA.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the Beautification Plan to further beautify Islamabad, operationalizing Food Street and Parking Plaza in Blue Area, enhancing the efficiency of the Solid Waste Management system, and promoting sports and healthy activities for the citizens of Islamabad.
The meeting was briefed on various measures to make Islamabad a sports-friendly city.
It was informed that, on the directives of the Chairman CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the Sports and Culture Directorate of CDA has initiated an open auction for five padel courts at various locations, which will generate a record monthly revenue of Rs. 76 lacs for the CDA. The meeting was further informed that, in light of the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the CDA Planning Wing has allocated space for 25 football and 25 cricket grounds in Islamabad where the work will be commence gradually after completion of all codal formalities.
Similarly, space has also been allocated for three futsal grounds and one indoor cricket ground. Additionally, the establishment of 5 cricket academies in Islamabad is also underway.
Chairman CDA directed that the construction of the pedestrian track in Blue Area and the establishment of the Food Court be completed as soon as possible, along with the installation of best-designed pathways. He directed that all work on the Parking Plaza in Blue Area should be completed so it can be opened for public convenience.
Chairman CDA directed that all parks in Islamabad, especially F-9 Park and Lake View Park, should have more beautiful and modern lights installed, and facilities should be enhanced. Furthermore, Chairman CDA approved the proposal to install a dancing fountain in F-9 Park under corporate social responsibility (CSR) basis and directed that work on it to be proceeded as per law.
Chairman CDA said that to make Islamabad the world’s most beautiful capital, serious efforts are underway to plant environmentally friendly trees, promote tourism, launched electric air conditioned buses, while projects like the cable car, theme park, and Ferris Wheel are being finalized according to the law.
Chairman CDA said that while new highways and underpasses are being constructed to resolve the city’s traffic issues, expressways, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, and Faisal Avenue are not only being upgraded but special attention is also being paid to beautifying lane markings, repairing footpaths, median strips, green belts, and rights-of-way along these highways. He added that the renovation of all major roundabouts and urban forestry projects have been prioritized to reduce air and land pollution.
The meeting was informed that under this project for renovation and beautification of highways, horticulture and landscaping work is being carried out on model highways, along with planting seasonal flowers in suitable places. Similarly, beautiful planters and wooden signboards are being used on these highways, which are receiving great appreciation from citizens. Modern lighting arrangements are also being ensured on these highways. Chairman CDA directed that parks in every sector of Islamabad be fully upgraded, including tracks, swings, modern lighting, and horticultural work.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that beautiful permanent lights be installed on all major highways, including Club Road, Faisal Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, Margalla Road, and Expressway. He further directed that the sprinkler system for plant maintenance be made effective to ensure plants grow within their stipulated time.
The meeting decided to further activate the Solid Waste Management system thus replacing old machinery with new machinery in order to further improve the cleanliness standards of Islamabad city.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that the CDA is utilizing all its resources to make Islamabad the most beautiful and environment friendly city. He said that CDA is progressing rapidly on all development projects including sector development to improve residential, transportation, sports, and recreational facilities. He added that the completion of these development projects will help in improving the quality of life and development.
