Recently, actor Varun Dhawan appeared on Season 16 of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” to promote his upcoming web series “Citadel: Honey Bunny.” During the show, host Amitabh Bachchan posed a historical question to Varun Dhawan and directors Raj and DK, asking, “Which actress died in a plane crash alongside her husband Maharaja Hanuwant Singh?” The answer options included Saluchana, Mumtaz, Nadira, and Zubeida. Varun Dhawan and Raj and DK ultimately selected Zubeida as their answer.
It later emerged that the information regarding Zubeida in the show’s question was incorrect. The original Zubeida, who was a famous actress from India’s first talkie film “Alam Ara,” had no connection to Maharaja Hanuwant Singh.
This mistake quickly became a topic on social media, where viewers questioned the lack of research. Zubeida Begum’s son and renowned journalist Khalid Muhammad also demanded an explanation on social media, writing, “Kaun Banega Crorepati, may I request clarification? My mother Zubeida, who was an actress in ‘Alam Ara,’ is not the same Zubeida mentioned in the show.”
Following Khalid Muhammad’s statement, viewers responded, and the issue continued to be discussed on social media.
