MUMBAI: Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan has clarified reports suggesting that he is retiring from acting, explaining that a remark in his blog was misunderstood and referred only to ending his day and going to sleep.
The 83-year-old actor shared a newspaper clipping carrying a report about his alleged retirement and explained that when he wrote, “It is late, time to retire,” he was not announcing an end to his acting or television career.
Bachchan Explains What He Meant
Bachchan said the remark was made in the context of finishing his work for the day. His reference to “retiring” was simply about going to bed because it had become late.
The actor addressed the misunderstanding in his characteristic humorous style, making clear that there was no announcement of his retirement from the entertainment industry.
His clarification puts to rest the latest speculation generated by the wording of his blog post and confirms that he continues to remain professionally active.
Amitabh Bachchan Continues to Host KBC
Bachchan is currently hosting the 18th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, the popular Indian television quiz show that first aired in 2000.
The programme has become one of India’s best-known television shows, with Bachchan serving as its host across multiple seasons.
The actor’s clarification indicates that his use of the word “retire” was not related to his professional career, as he continues his television commitments.
