An All Parties Conference was organized under the auspices of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Tehsil Balambat at a local hotel, presided over by Mufti Umar Hussain, the Ameer of JUI Tehsil Balambat. Leaders from various political parties and legal professionals participated.
Speakers included Sajjaduddin (Ameer JUI Lower Dir), General Secretary Muhammad Huzaifa, Sardar Alam, Maulana Hanifullah, former Nazim of Jamaat-e-Islami Balambat Imranuddin Advocate, Sher Hayat Khan Advocate, Ashraf Ali Advocate, Haji Nazar Gul, Niaz Ali Roghani, Ehsan-ul-Haq Tajik (ANP), Hujjaj Khan (PTI), Dr. Jamshed (PTI), Haji Mashooq Jan (PPP), Haji Gul Mir Khan (PPP), Gul Badshah (PML-N), and other local leaders.
Addressing the conference, the speakers stated that Tehsil Balambat has become a hub of problems. They pointed out that the construction of the Koto Hydel Power Project has been completed, but it has not been made operational. They demanded its immediate activation, ensuring electricity supply and royalty for Lower Dir, and the recruitment of local people up to Scale-6 in the project.They also raised concerns about the Balambat Irrigation Multipurpose Project, which has remained non-functional for the past three years under the pretext of repairs, leaving hundreds of acres of land barren. They urged authorities to restore the water supply immediately.
The speakers expressed concern over the co-education system at Postgraduate College Timergara, terming it against local traditions and Islamic values. They demanded that BS classes be started at the newly built Government Girls College Balambat, allowing female students to be shifted there.Serious concerns were also raised regarding delays in the establishment of Timergara Medical College. The speakers demanded an investigation into irregularities and strict action against those responsible.The conference also strongly criticized the corruption in the Land Settlement Department, alleging that some officials are involved in bribery and unlawful land transfers, creating disputes among landowners. They warned that if such practices continue, the department will be held responsible for any resulting conflicts.Furthermore, they highlighted the deteriorating condition of link roads in Tehsil Balambat and demanded the appointment of doctors in Basic Health Units (BHUs) to improve healthcare facilities.The speakers assured full cooperation with the district administration and security authorities in maintaining peace in the region.
