DADU: A model criminal court has acquitted all accused in the murder case of Umme Rubab Chandio’s father, grandfather and uncle, concluding proceedings in a case that remained under trial for eight years.
According to defence counsel Salahuddin Panhwar, all individuals nominated in the case have been cleared of charges. The case had named eight accused, including two sitting members of the Sindh Assembly. During the trial, four of the accused were in custody, while the remaining were on bail.

The lawyer stated that the killings had taken place in broad daylight and that the prosecution had presented three eyewitnesses along with medical evidence. He maintained that, in their view, the evidence was sufficient for conviction and confirmed that an appeal would be filed in higher courts against the verdict.
Security was tightened ahead of the court’s decision, with around 450 police personnel deployed at the judicial complex and surrounding routes. Additional security arrangements were also made outside the residence of Umme Rubab Chandio.
The court had reserved its judgment during the previous hearing after recording witness statements and hearing final arguments. The announcement of the verdict marks a significant development in a case that had drawn public attention over the years.
