Islamabad: Speakers at a weekly Seerat lecture at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU )emphasized that the life of Prophet Muhammad offers a comprehensive model of compassion, social welfare and service to humanity.
The third session of the university’s Seerat lecture series focused on the theme of humanitarian service, with scholars highlighting how the Prophet’s teachings promote kindness, justice and support for vulnerable members of society.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Muhammad Abu Bakr Siddiqi said the Prophet’s life demonstrates practical examples of caring for others and promoting goodwill across communities. He noted that Islam places strong emphasis on helping people regardless of their background or social status.
Dr. Siddiqi explained that the Prophet treated Muslims and non-Muslims alike with fairness and mercy. Supporting orphans, widows, the poor and other vulnerable groups was an essential part of his life, reflecting the broader Islamic principle of social responsibility.
He added that serving humanity is a central command in Islam and represents the true spirit of religion. Acts of kindness and assistance to those in need, he said, are considered both a moral responsibility and a means of seeking Allah’s pleasure.
Dr. Siddiqi also stressed the importance of applying the Prophet’s teachings in contemporary society, noting that even small acts of support and compassion can contribute to the welfare of communities.
Opening the session, Syed Ghulam Kazim Ali, head of the university’s library, said the weekly Seerat lectures are jointly organized by the Central Library and the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Allama Iqbal Open University.
He said the sessions aim to provide an academic platform for discussing different aspects of the Prophet’s life while encouraging students and staff to study Seerat and apply its teachings in daily life.
