PESHAWAR: More than 50 journalists participated in a one-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) training workshop held at the Peshawar Press Club to enhance digital skills and newsroom capabilities.

The workshop was organized by the Khyber Union of Journalists in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board. The initiative aimed to familiarize media professionals with AI tools, digital security practices and emerging trends in data-driven journalism.

Managing Director of the KP IT Board Aqif Khan attended the session as chief guest. Trainer Dr. Nauman led the workshop, offering practical insights into AI applications in journalism.

Focus on digital tools and ethics

During the session, participants were introduced to AI-powered tools for news writing, data analysis, investigative reporting and verification of audio and video content. Live demonstrations were conducted to show how journalists can use AI to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Dr. Nauman emphasized that AI should be viewed as a support tool rather than a replacement for journalists, highlighting the importance of maintaining ethical standards and responsible reporting.

Office bearers of the Khyber Union of Journalists, including President Kashifuddin Syed and General Secretary Irshad Ali, said the media landscape is rapidly evolving and journalists must adapt to technological advancements to remain competitive.

They thanked the KP IT Board for supporting the initiative and stressed the need for regular training programmes focused on digital journalism, data reporting and AI.

The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session addressing concerns related to ethics, data security and misinformation. Organizers announced plans to conduct advanced training sessions in the near future.
