ATTOCK: The district administration has stepped up preparations for Muharram by inspecting procession routes and reviewing security and civic arrangements aimed at ensuring peaceful and safe observance of religious events across Attock.
Assistant Commissioner Attock Muhammad Arif Qureshi visited several Imambargahs and procession routes, where he met organizers and reviewed measures being taken to facilitate mourners during Muharram. Officials said the administration is working closely with law enforcement agencies and local stakeholders to maintain security and public order.
Speaking during a visit to Imambargah Panjtani in Attock city, Qureshi said Muharram conveys lessons of patience, sacrifice, truthfulness and humanity. He emphasized that cooperation between the administration, organizers and the public is essential to ensure that religious gatherings are conducted peacefully.
The visit was attended by SDPO President Circle Ilyas Baig, SHO President Taimur Khan Alizai, SHO City Sajjad Haider, Inspector Special Branch Aftabuddin Khattak, Tehsildar Attock Chaudhry Rizwan, CSO Malik Naeem, security officials and representatives of the Attock Municipal Committee.
Security and civic arrangements reviewed
During the visit, the Assistant Commissioner inspected the route of the procession originating from Imambargah Panjtani and later reviewed the routes of the 9th Muharram procession from Shein Bagh and the 10th Muharram procession from Imambargah Hussainiya Attock Cantt, along with other scheduled processions.
Officials examined potential obstacles along the routes and directed relevant departments to complete cleanliness, security and other necessary arrangements before the start of Muharram processions.
Qureshi also appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activity to the authorities and urged organizers and volunteers to work together to prevent any attempts to disrupt peace and order.
Organizers express satisfaction
The Assistant Commissioner sought feedback from Imambargah administrators regarding the preparations made by the district administration.
According to officials, organizers expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and appreciated the cooperation of the district administration and supporting institutions, including the Special Branch, Security Branch, Bomb Disposal Squad, Rescue 1122, District Headquarters Hospital, WAPDA and other relevant departments involved in Muharram preparations.
