INDORE: Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has set a new world record by reaching 2,000 runs in T20 International cricket in the fewest balls, surpassing former India captain Suryakumar Yadav.
According to the reported figures, Sharma reached the milestone in just 1,024 balls, eclipsing Yadav’s previous record of 1,164 balls.
Sharma continued his aggressive approach in the third T20 International against the West Indies in Indore, smashing 69 runs off just 30 deliveries.
The left-handed batter reached his half-century in only 18 balls, putting the opposition bowlers under considerable pressure with his explosive batting.
His latest performance further highlights his attacking style and ability to score quickly in the shortest international format.
In the list of batters who have reached 2,000 T20I runs in the fewest balls, Austria’s Karanbir Singh is reported to occupy third place, followed by Australia’s Aaron Finch in fourth and the United Arab Emirates’ Muhammad Waseem in fifth.
