Delhi-based content creator gains millions of views with short-form protest videos before briefly losing and later regaining his Instagram account.

NEW DELHI: Delhi-based content creator Abhinav Bisht has emerged as one of India’s fastest-rising social media personalities after his short-form videos covering a student protest went viral, attracting millions of views and a surge in followers.

Previously known to only a few thousand followers, Bisht gained nationwide attention by producing humorous, Gen Z-style videos during a student protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party. Instead of traditional reporting, he presented the demonstrations through short, relatable reels that quickly resonated with young audiences.

One of his videos, featuring the song “Teri Galiyon Mein Mohabbat Hogi,” reportedly amassed around 160 million views within two days. According to reports, the clip recreated a format previously popularized by Indian content creator Faisal Shaikh, adapting it to the protest setting.

The viral success transformed Bisht’s online presence, with his Instagram following reportedly growing from around 4,000–5,000 to more than 635,000 followers. Many social media users described him as one of the most influential Gen Z content creators covering current events in an unconventional style.

However, his rapid rise was briefly interrupted when Meta, the parent company of Instagram, suspended his account without prior notice, according to media reports.

The suspension sparked an online campaign under the hashtag “Restore Abhinav’s Account,” with supporters urging the platform to reinstate his profile. Bisht also created a new account, which reportedly attracted more than 100,000 followers within hours.

His original Instagram account was later restored. After regaining access, Bisht shared an emotional video thanking his supporters, saying he had been unable to sleep while his account remained suspended and expressing gratitude for the public support that helped bring it back.

His story has fueled broader discussions about the growing influence of short-form social media content and how younger creators are reshaping the way current events and public movements are presented to digital audiences.
