LAHORE: Police have named three suspects in the murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Abdullah Tahir, marking a significant development in the investigation. The suspects include TikToker Lareeb Shehzadi, Abdullah Tahir’s driver Asghar and an alleged reconnaissance suspect.
According to police sources, Lareeb Shehzadi and Asghar have been nominated for allegedly facilitating the crime by providing Abdullah Tahir’s location to the alleged attackers. A suspect accused of conducting reconnaissance was also included in the case.
Five suspects, including those newly nominated, are currently in the custody of the Crime Control Department (CCD) police. However, police have yet to arrest alleged main shooter Arslan and two other suspected shooters.
Lareeb Shehzadi’s Bail Plea
Meanwhile, the Lahore Sessions Court heard the post-arrest bail petition filed by Lareeb Shehzadi, who was arrested in connection with allegations of facilitating Abdullah Tahir’s murder.
Ghulam Abbas Chadhar, a member of the Punjab Bar Council, submitted the power of attorney on behalf of the complainant, while lawyer Azhar Mayo appeared for the accused.
Police requested additional time to submit the investigation record. The Additional Sessions Judge adjourned the hearing until September 10.
The case was registered at Ghalib Market Police Station in Lahore.
