FAISALABAD, November 1, 2026: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed authorities to accelerate the expansion of the Faisalabad–Pindi Bhattian section of the M-4 Motorway, promising to complete the project by the New Year and transform the route into a modern, six-lane highway with improved safety and passenger facilities.
During a visit to the Kamalpur Interchange, the minister inspected ongoing construction work on the 53-kilometre motorway section, which is being upgraded from four to six lanes to address increasing traffic pressure and improve connectivity between Faisalabad and Pindi Bhattian.
Abdul Aleem Khan said the project would fulfil a longstanding demand of Faisalabad residents that had remained unresolved for nearly 30 years.
He expressed confidence that the government would present the upgraded motorway to the people of Faisalabad as a New Year gift through timely completion of construction.
The minister directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) and construction teams to increase machinery deployment and workforce strength to accelerate work without compromising construction quality.
He said the NHA had arranged the required project funding through its own resources, leaving no justification for unnecessary delays.
Abdul Aleem Khan also ordered extensive beautification and landscaping along the motorway, including tree plantation on both sides, development of central green belts and the planting of date palms.
He instructed officials to ensure adequate lighting along the Pindi Bhattian–Faisalabad section and finalise designs for modern rest areas within one week.
The proposed rest areas will provide additional facilities for motorists and passengers travelling along the busy motorway corridor.
Highlighting road safety, the minister said expanding the motorway would reduce traffic congestion, improve driving conditions and help prevent accidents.
He paid tribute to Motorway Police personnel who had lost their lives while performing their duties, saying the provision of safer travelling conditions for commuters and law enforcement personnel remained a key objective of the project.
Abdul Aleem Khan emphasised that the government was committed to developing modern highways and improving road infrastructure to facilitate economic activity and public mobility.
Senior officials from the NHA, National Logistics Cell (NLC) and other construction organisations briefed the minister on the project’s progress.
He was informed that the M-4 expansion project had been divided into three sections, with construction being undertaken by the NLC and other organisations.
The minister appreciated the performance of NHA and Motorway Police officials and directed all concerned departments to maintain coordination to ensure timely completion.
Meanwhile, during his Faisalabad visit, Abdul Aleem Khan, who also serves as president of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), attended a reception hosted by former provincial minister and senior party leader Chaudhry Zahiruddin at his residence.
The gathering was attended by former MPA Chaudhry Akhtar Ali, IPP Secretary General and Provincial Minister Mian Khalid Mahmood, Punjab President Rana Nazir Ahmed Khan, Provincial Secretary General and MPA Shoaib Siddiqui, and other party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Aleem Khan thanked party workers for their support and discussed the establishment of new provinces and prevailing national challenges.
