Zulqarnain Khan Jadoon, Central Chairman of Hazara Qaumi Mahaz Pakistan, has called for indiscriminate action against both public and private encroachments in Abbottabad, saying government-owned and authorised structures must also be removed to ensure equal enforcement of the law.
In a statement, Jadoon said removing encroachments was an urgent requirement for the city, but the administration must also dismantle government-sanctioned structures built over storm-water drains by the Abbottabad Municipal Committee over the years.
He argued that if authorities were taking action against private encroachments, similar measures should be taken against government-led encroachments to ensure that the law applies equally to everyone.
Jadoon said millions of rupees had been spent on projects aimed at beautifying Abbottabad, but the city’s appearance had not improved as expected. He noted that urban problems remained unresolved and encroachments continued to affect the city’s appearance and accessibility.
Describing Abbottabad as a city blessed with natural beauty, he said practical measures were needed to restore its appeal. Rather than focusing solely on beautification projects, he urged authorities to clear encroachments, improve cleanliness and make public spaces more accessible and convenient for residents.
He specifically called for the removal of structures built over storm-water drains and urged the administration to take action against all encroachments without discrimination.
While appreciating the administration’s efforts to clear encroachments, Jadoon also called on citizens to cooperate with authorities and support the campaign to restore the city’s original character.
