Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s private wedding to Gauri Spratt on July 5 has attracted fresh attention after details of the bride’s ruby engagement ring were reported by Indian media. The ceremony was held at Khan’s Mumbai residence with close family members and a small group of friends in attendance.
According to The Times of India, the intimate event did not include a large reception or a gathering of Bollywood celebrities. However, photographs released after the ceremony drew attention to Gauri Spratt’s ring, which has since become a topic of discussion among jewellery enthusiasts.
Rare Ruby and Handcrafted Design
Media reports state that the ring was custom-made by Mumbai-based luxury jewellery brand COYN. Its centerpiece is a natural cabochon-cut ruby sourced from Madagascar, which jewellery experts reportedly describe as exceptionally rare because of its colour, clarity, and quality.
According to Hindustan Times, COYN co-founder Amit Kumar said it took more than three months to source the ruby due to its rarity.
More Than 130 Artisans Worked on the Ring
The jewellery brand said 131 skilled artisans contributed to crafting the ring. The entire process—including design, gemstone cutting, setting, diamond placement, and final finishing—reportedly required more than 256 hours to complete.
The ring features a crown-inspired gold setting with a central ruby surrounded by around 40 natural diamonds. Decorative milgrain detailing and design elements inspired by traditional Indian craftsmanship give it a distinctive appearance.
Value Not Officially Disclosed
Neither Aamir Khan nor the jewellery brand has disclosed the ring’s price.
Jewellery experts quoted in media reports estimate that the combination of the rare Madagascar ruby, natural diamonds, and extensive handcrafting could place its value in the multi-million-rupee range. However, no official valuation has been confirmed
