Rawalpindi police have registered a case after a young woman alleged that her cousin entered her home in Gujar Khan, sexually assaulted her, recorded an objectionable video and later used it to blackmail and threaten her.

According to police, the case was registered at Gujar Khan police station on the basis of the survivor’s statement. The suspect has been identified as Gulraiz Shabbir, a relative of the complainant.

In her statement to police, the woman said she was at home while her father was at work and her mother had gone to the village after a death in the family. She alleged that the suspect entered the house by climbing over a wall and threatened her with a knife.

The complainant told police that the suspect recorded an objectionable video and assaulted her. She further alleged that he later threatened to make the video public if she informed her family.

According to the FIR details, the woman remained silent out of fear and social pressure. She later received the same video from an unknown number through a one-time-view message and saved evidence with the help of her brother’s mobile phone.

Police said a case has been registered against the suspect and raids are being conducted for his arrest.

Authorities said further investigation is under way.
