A delegation from the Rotary Club Metropolitan Islamabad, led by Shabbir Malik, met with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House Peshawar. During the meeting, the Governor was given a detailed briefing on the Rotary Club’s social services, including initiatives in health, education, and women’s welfare. The delegation highlighted various projects such as promoting education, construction and renovation of schools, provision of uniforms, bags, and furniture for children, maternal and child health, training of lady health workers, and tree plantation. Emphasis was also placed on polio eradication campaigns, women’s empowerment, fellowship programs, and revitalization of basic health centers. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the Rotary Club’s efforts and stated that mobilizing all segments of society is essential in the fight against polio. He stressed the need for strategies that encourage parents to voluntarily bring their children for polio vaccination. He also highlighted the importance of making health centers attractive and effective enough to naturally draw public interest. The Governor House has appointed a focal person for the polio campaign across the province to ensure coordinated efforts. Governor Kundi welcomed collaboration with the Rotary Club in social initiatives and proposed a strong and sustainable model through cooperation between the Red Crescent and Rotary Club. He emphasized that this model could be expanded to other welfare programs in the future. Additionally, he termed the clean drinking water filtration project as critically important, especially for the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the Damaan region.
