Pind Dadan Khan: Hundreds of people in Pind Dadan Khan city have fallen victim to hepatitis and other diseases due to the consumption of contaminated and rusty water. The water supply system is in a state of disrepair, with leaks and breakages at multiple points. The water being supplied to residents is mixed with sewage. The filtration plant has been non-functional for a long time, and broken pipes are not being replaced.
Whenever citizens protest, they are told that there are no funds available. Those who once claimed they would turn the city into “Paris” are nowhere to be seen. The municipal committee continues to increase monthly fees but fails to provide clean water.
Citizens are protesting strongly, warning that if clean water is not provided, deaths could occur. They demand that the water be tested in a laboratory and that action be taken against those responsible.
The administration seems more focused on demolishing encroachments rather than ensuring the provision of clean drinking water. The municipal staff appears to be out of control, and due to a lack of checks and balances, the public is being forced to drink contaminated water. As a result, people are suffering from various dangerous diseases.
They have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Deputy Commissioner Jhelum to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
