Another body has recovered from debris; Police claim that instead of an explosion was identified as an illegal warehouse of refilling LPG Multan: At least six people were killed and 33 others were injured in a gas tank explosion in an industrial farm in multi, the rescue authorities announced on Monday. As a result of the LPG tank explosion, a massive fire broke out, while the remains of a broken vehicle fell on a nearby living area and caused considerable damage. Rescuers said the fire had gone out after hours of effort, which included more than ten vehicles to combat fire and firefighters based on foam. In a deadly explosion, five people originally lost their lives. However, the number of victims increased to six after rescuers caught another body from a damaged explosion. Minister Pandjab Khawaja Salman Rafiq said a total of 39 victims were reported, including six dead. Among the dead were a smaller girl and two women. According to the police, at least 20 houses around the explosion have completely changed to debris, with 70 partly damaged. Multan (CPO) Municipal police officer Sadiq Ali said for Geo News that several houses were destroyed and livestock was killed in flames. He revealed that the gas was escaped from one of the valves of tanks parked in an industrial park. Some people present in this area have already evacuated after they felt the gas before the explosion of the tanker, he added. CPO Ali also stated that gas leakage from the tanker persists, causing the authorities to evacuate the area. There are 13 among the injured. The district rescuer confirmed that in the hospital in Nishtar, where they were injured, the state of emergency was declared. In neighboring places, search events that have started to ensure safety were started, preventive suspension in the area. Multan-Muzaffargarh Road was later reopened for operation. Meanwhile, the locals were advised to keep them away from the explosion, because the gas from the exploded tanker was still in the air. Later, the police revealed that the incident was identified as an illegal LPG warehouse and the explosion occurred during refilling. They explained that LPG was converted from a large petrol tank into smaller tanks and commercial bottles. The police also said that the large gas rifle was reportedly transported by a smuggled LPG. The explosion was destroyed by five small and large gas bombs present in the warehouse, they added. During the explosion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his sadness over life loss and prayed for forgiveness of the deceased and patience for his families. He ordered the authorities concerned to explore the causes of the explosion of the tanker and take steps to prevent such incidents in the future. Meanwhile, the Multan Division administration decided to start a haul against illegal places of gas. Commissioner Amir Karim Khan said the place was completely closed because the gas leak continues from one of the bows at the moment of the explosion. He ordered officials to prepare a list of LPG containers in the division and forbid the presence of gas tanks with gas in heavily crowded areas. He also ordered the teams to attack the illegal fill rooms of CNG and LPG and close those who work without proper equipment. The Commissioner ordered checks of school and personal buses and records of cases against persons who participated in illegal gas supplementation. Later, a representative of the Multan Commissioner created the Commission to present an incident report within 48 hours. He said that the management of the city district will take strict measures in the future to avoid similar incidents.
