Timergara: In Lower Dir, the sub-tribe Yaqoob Khel of the Nasri Din Khel tribe from the village of Rani has demanded through a grand jirga (tribal council) that their hundreds of kanals of purchased land in Timergara, Timer Mian Banda, and Tangi Dara be peacefully vacated by the occupiers. They warned that if this does not happen, they will not hesitate to take any necessary action to reclaim their property.
A grand jirga of the Yaqoob Khel leaders was held in the village of Rani, attended by many tribal leaders. Speaking on the occasion, prominent figures such as Sangeen Khan, Mumtaz Khan, Sohrab Khan, Muhammad Rasool Khan, Muhammad Zafar Khan, and others stated that their ancestor Sarwar Khan had purchased approximately 500 kanals of land in Timergara in 1901-1903. The lands, known as Kas Lalma, Timer Chinar, Mala Owlas, and Ghargey, were bought from Lundai Khan using the then-prevailing Afghan currency. The sale was documented in the court of Nawab Muhammad Sharif Khan in the presence of witnesses, and all the related sale deeds bear the seal of Nawab Muhammad Sharif Khan and are still in their possession. However, during the Nawabi period, their family was exiled from the district, during which Nawabzada Timer Khan’s family forcibly occupied the aforementioned purchased lands. After 25 years of exile, Nawab Aurangzeb Baacha called them back and agreed to return their lands through a written agreement. Unfortunately, Nawab Aurangzeb’s death prevented the implementation of this agreement, and the lands were not handed back to them. The speakers further alleged that at various times, their case files were suppressed in government offices due to the influence of their opponents. They emphasized that their family is peaceful and law-abiding, and they do not wish for any conflict. Therefore, they suggested forming a jirga comprising leaders from the well-known tribes of Lower Dir—Nasri Din Khel, Oosi Khel, Sultan Khel, and Painda Khel—to find a peaceful solution to the issue of their occupied properties. Otherwise, they will be compelled to take decisive action to reclaim their lands.
